The Technology

The VCAP(Variable Compression Axial Piston) Engine was developed with the objective of greatly improving the efficiency of the Internal Combustion Engine simultaneously improving engine performance measure in terms of Power to Size and Power to Weight ratios. Axial Piston engines that have been built have demostrated reduced frictional losses and compact size. Variable Compression ratio(VCR) in engines allow significantly improved thermodynamic efficiency. The VCAP engine makes VCR engine design more practical and combines the advantages of both VCR and axial piston arrangement.

The Market

Internal Combustion engines are everywhere, powering everything from weed whackers to automobiles, trucks, and small aircrafts. VCAP technology could conceivably be applied to any of the listed applications of IC engines. However, we are currently focusing on those markets which can benefit immediately from this new technology. They are

  • Portable Power Generators.
  • Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs).

Current Research and Development

We are currently building our first prototype axial engine with a Z-crank motion converter. Some of current R&D efforts are

  • Building and testing Prototype1B Axial Engine.
  • Frictional Analysis.
  • Noise and Vibration Analysis.
  • VCR Mechanisms.
